Tines Family Reunion Inc is a nonprofit organization dedicated to genealogy research for descendants of enslaved Africans in the Americas.
So much of African Americans' ancestral history is lost to both the passage of time and the willful and deliberate erasure of familial ties by slavers in the Americas. While DNA genealogy platforms are helpful when determining genetic ancestry, they are largely deficient in determining direct lineage for most descendants of African slaves. For this, a much more encompassing and comprehensive research approach is required. That is what we are hoping to accomplish.
The continued celebration and acknowledgement of African American familial history, ancestry, and current family lines. And contributing to the continuance and success of current African-American familial lines. We also strive to help underserved students in the Chicagoland area become successful and provide funds and support for students pursuing degrees in genealogy and civic engagement.
